My new boat! The J/44 ticks all the boxes for me: fast, fun to sail, great to windward with a deep, heavy keel, strong, comfortable layout down below, light but not stark, and beautiful to look at. The only downside is that it’s 30+ years old at this point, but after taking a long and hard look at her with my brilliant friend Boo, I’ve concluded that she is absolutely ready to take me wherever I want to go for the next 30 years or more.
